About the Smart Logger V2
Your smart device will detect any Wagner Meters wireless device that features Bluetooth connectivity, such as the Smart Logger V2 or Orion 950 Smart Pinless Wood Moisture Meter, and perform the pairing procedure automatically. There is nothing you need to do; the devices do the work for you.
The Smart Logger V2 is a small, lightweight, easily portable and highly accurate monitoring device that tracks ambient temperature and humidity conditions when flooring professionals are away from the job site. It can also be utilized during the wood flooring acclimation process and the storage of wood flooring. The Smart Logger V2 is capable of storing up to 16,384 readings.
The Smart Logger V2 monitor incorporates the latest Bluetooth® technology and works in tandem with the Wagner Sentry app, which can be downloaded for free at the Apple Store or Google Play. The app connects the Smart Logger V2 monitor through a mobile device’s Bluetooth (Android or iOS devices), enabling users to easily transmit and record data, and even send reports via email.

Dave Wojo, Amazon Customer –
I unpacked the little Smart Logger from its plastic bag and pulled the plastic tab out of the battery compartment. It powered up with no problem. DON’T throw away the small metallic serial number sticker on the plastic bag. You will need it EVERY time you want to connect with the device. I pasted mine over the word ‘smart’ on the front of the device this way the phone’s camera can read it so you don’t have to type it in.
I have an Android and an old iPhone so I downloaded the App to both. The software is slightly better on the iPhone. The interface on both Apps needs work, its very awkward to use.
The manual does not adequately describe how to connect the device with your phone. For Android you MUST have location services enabled before it will connect. Otherwise there is no useful error message, I had to dig into the BLE protocol to find this out. For iPhone there is a magnifying glass (search) function that will show ‘smart loggers’ in the immediate area. You can select your device from there and connect even with location turned off. Android needs this function badly.
For reports, the Android App produces a static PDF file of the temp and humidity chart and individual readings. The iPhone’s App provides an interactive HTML file that is much nicer to use.
There are many developer debug error messages that appear when something goes wrong e.g. “(Factory Special Edition) Unable to connect the device. Try again?”. Also when attempting to upgrade the firmware both Apps can hang. I tried three times before the message “Running latest firmware” was displayed. I think it all goes to the fact that these are immature Apps that need updating, especially the BLE library that eliminates the need for location services .
If you can deal with the App and its foibles, the device itself is well made and the whole package (App & Hardware) are acceptable to monitor environmental conditions over a long period of time. I took two stars away for the V1.0 software. Please fix the Apps. This is a great product for woodworkers and contractors.

[Review of SmartLogger V1] This is a very valuable tool! Super easy to use and at that price point why not buy one for every job. Its a very small and easy cost to add to each job that in return will benefit you and your customers.
